I got raped

Thu Sep 22, 2005, 2:51 PM
Your body assumed its proper form when my fists tore it apart!

...the powers that be here at deviantart just informed be that "clim axed" had to be deleted becuase of some policy violation.

Those who know my art, know that some of what I do is HIGHLY erotic. If any of my deviations were to be deleted, "clim axed" would be the last on the list.

In my opinion, it was not  pornographically explicit or hardcore, eventhough, it was displaying a sexual act. Foreplay, basically.

Am I wrong, or have I just been punked?

It is bs, but if its any consolation, they're supposed to be applying the same standards to written material, which in some ways is even more bullshitish:D

ugh, I thought the name of this site had the word deviant in it. If a picture was marked mature then I think it's generally should be whatever goes.

That is so weak. If it's marked as "mature," it shouldn't have been touched.

Did they tell you what part of it violated the censorship policy?

This is what they sent me:

Your deviation was removed because it violated one of the following policies:

1. deviantART does not tolerate deviations which are based, in majority, off of racial slurs, are anti-semetic or derogatory in nature towards a particular religion or ethnic group, offensive in nature towards an individual or group of individuals, pornographic or are deemed invaluable to deviantART as decided by the deviantART staff on a case by case basis.

2. deviantART does not tolerate deviations which are submitted in the Tutorials category which do not follow the deviantART Tutorial Submission Guidelines. If you are unfamiliar with the proper procedures for tutorial submissions then please view the deviantART Tutorial Submission Guidelines.

deviantART enforces a zero tolerance policy in regards to violations of our submission policy and therefore will take the actions that we deem necessary on a case by case basis. There is a possibility that you will be banned from interactivity on deviantART therefore it is suggested that you visit your user page to see if this is in fact the case.

So you see, they didn't even tell me what the violation was. They just sent me this fucking list.

But I'm guessing they have my work confused with porn.

I had to laugh at that one.

This just came this morning:

I've reviewed the logs and the reason for the removal is the fact that the male figure's hand is clearly placed under the females undergarments in a way which strongly suggests masterbation. These types of poses are unacceptable for submission here.

So I guess suggesting sex okay, as long as no one's jerking off.

This is bullshit!

Not to mention they just deleted the "The Hand That Feeds".

Now I'm seriously considering leaving DA becuase being
censored is not going to work for me. Deviants can write
about jacking-off or rubbing their cunts but they can't
illustrate it?!

What's the point in having a mature warning label then?

Like I said, BULLSHIT!

I understand their stance – in principle. They need to draw the line somewhere. But I also thought that they would review each questionable piece on a case-by-case basis for artistic merit. I understand that pornography can be subjective, but the pieces they removed were pretty clearly artwork and not pornography – by all but the narrowest of definitions.

I guess I had hoped that dA would have some kind of board (of open-minded people who understand and appreciate art) carefully review borderline pieces, but it sounds to me like some admin just decided to pull your pieces because they had (strongly) implied “masterbation” [sic] – without any due process. That’s just weak in my opinion.

You have every right to be pissed off.
