Artist's Comments

If I question the very nature of things, I am free to form my own opinions, and find my own truths. What is true for one may not be true for another. If this is the case, then does reality not differ from person to person, depending on their outlook?
~Soul of a Samurai

My ego and my impatients have always been my greastest enemies. The ego always makes you believe that their are enemies all around you. Trying to take what's yours. But the only enemy is within yourself. It can't be rid of, but you can control it.

And I always convince myself that I'm a patient person when I am the total opposite. When I get in my mind to do something it has to be done at that moment. No matter how trivial the situation may be. I fight with myself, saying this doesn't have to be done now. It can wait. I don't even really need it. But I want it now.

I wished this aspect of my life didn't interfer with my art. If it didn't I know I could have been a much better artist.

I didn't actually plan on painting this particular headshot but the title came to last night and I immediately thought of this shot. I apologize for stepping on the photographer's toes, so thank you Aaron Hawks for shooting such a great shot. I couldn't have done this without you.

And of course, Natalie for having such a beautiful inner bottom lip. One bodypart I've never painted before. Thanks.

PLEASE VIEW IN FULL MODE.

I love the light blue. I think some sploches to the left side of her face would look nice in the empty space for symmetry to the other side, but I love how you allow the paint to drip down the length of the image. Melting away at a slow pace.
